Configuring masthead fields
Who is this article for?
Administrators who need to customise the information displayed at the top of record pages.
Administration access to Lists configuration is required.
The masthead is the header section that appears at the top of record pages (such as findings, incidents, audits, and actions), displaying key information about the record in an easy-to-read format.
Accessing masthead configuration
To access the masthead configuration:
- Go to Administration.
- Select Lists.
- Choose the type of record you want to configure from the available options.
- Click the specific record type you want to configure.
- Look for the Field Layout section, which shows the current masthead configuration and which fields are displayed.
Here, you will see a variety of fields that full under the below field types:
- Standard Fields - Built-in fields that are part of the system, such as Title, Description, Status, Date fields, User assignments, Priority levels, and Categories
- Custom Fields - Fields that have been created specifically for your organisation's needs
- Role Fields - Fields that show which roles or people are assigned to the record
Editing masthead fields
To edit the masthead fields:
- Click the Edit fields button.
- Review the configuration panel, which shows current fields (pre-ticked and listed in the Order section) and available fields (unticked).
- Click Save.
The masthead configuration panel will close automatically. The new field layout applies immediately to all new records and the masthead display of existing records. Changes are system-wide, so all users see the updated layout instantly.
Managing fields
Adding fields
To add fields:
- Find the field you want in the Available fields list.
- Tick the box next to the field name to add it to your masthead layout.
Removing fields
To remove fields:
- Find the field in your current masthead layout.
- Untick the box next to the field name to remove it from the masthead.
Tip
Use Select All to quickly add all available fields at once.
Reordering fields
To reorder the fields:
- Go to the Order section, which lists all selected fields.
- Drag and drop fields or click the arrows to reorder them.
The order will appear on the masthead from left to right.
Best practices
For the most effective configuration:
- Keep it concise - Only include the most important fields that users need to see at a glance
- Consider your workflow - Include fields that help users quickly identify and categorise records
- Test the layout - Check how the masthead looks with actual data to ensure it is readable
- Review regularly: Periodically review and update the masthead as your processes evolve
